Juneteenth, also known as Freedom Day or Emancipation Day, commemorates the emancipation of enslaved African Americans in the United States. On June 19, 1865, Union soldiers arrived in Galveston, Texas, to announce the end of slavery, over two years after the Emancipation Proclamation was issued. Today, Juneteenth stands as a powerful symbol of freedom, resilience, and the ongoing fight for equality.
